Eddie started life with a good breeder and a loving owner.  Bill became Eddie’s constant companion.  Eddie’s life changed drastically when his owner became terminally ill.  Out of his love for Eddie, Bill made arrangements for friends with show dogs to take in Eddie until they could find him a good home.  This turned out to be the beginning of the worst year in Eddie’s life.  Eddie was put in a kennel where he received no real exercise, very little human companionship, and little encouragement to eat regularly. 
      When Karen heard about Eddie’s sad situation she was quite concerned.  After telling us about it, we couldn’t resist the desire to rescue him from his unhappy life.  We contacted the kennel owner and made arrangements to purchase Eddie.  When I saw Eddie for the first time I couldn’t believe this was a dog that had two reserves under his belt while he was in the 6 to 9 month old puppy class.  His ribs protruded, his coat was all sun-bleached, his left ear wouldn’t stand, and he had forgotten how to play. I felt so sorry for this dog that I had to bring him home.
      It has been a long struggling road to get Eddie looking and feeling as great as he does. Lucille and I now look at him with such pride because he remembers what it’s like to play and have fun again.  He certainly is a special dog with a great temperament and quite a personality. He is so very easy to love.
      Because we want him to know he once more belongs to a loving family, we show him on a limited basis.  We don’t want him away from home too often.  Now, every chance he gets, Eddie plays with us or any other dog that will play with him. He even smiles, yes, I said smiles, especially when he believes he has gotten one over on us --- and we let him feel that way every now and then, just because…… 
      Eddie does have a serious side and he has proven that he is willing to protect his family when he thinks there is any sign of threat or danger.  We look forward to keeping Eddie’s future bright and happy as part of our family.
